America holds other nations to a higher standard.
Look at the UN for example: while MOST member countries prevaricate and hesitate, we, the USA, actually operate towards helping those people of the world that need assistance.
This doesn't cotton well with the Dictators, Theocratic Rulers, and Oppressors of the world.

The answers are simple. Politics and media. The United States is portrayed as an aggressor in much of the world media. Our president is portrayed by any number of evil depictions the least of which is dictator. Generally speaking I do not believe that it is the people of the United States that are hated, but rather what we represent in the world by how we are portrayed. We are shown as fat, lazy, greedy and selfish. Misconception on the world stage is common and it is easy to dislike that which you don't truly understand. People in the United States are just as guilty of this as are people in other nations. It seems to be very hard for many to separate the government from the people. Personally I believe that people are people everywhere in the world. They go to work, raise their families and try to live a good life, but this is never the image we are shown. We are bombarded with scenes of the worst society has to offer on a minute to minute basis. With the Internet and global communications people all over the world are experiencing the same assault. Given this fact misunderstanding is going to be and is common. The best course for us all would be to try and understand other cultures and our differences before condemning anyone, but alas this is not how human nature works and is still the primary cause for why there are wars in the world.

Are you talking about George Bush when you say "hero?" What planet are you from anyway. How someone like George could become president of any republic is beyond me. Capitalism has it's downfalls. But the real problem with your president is he is a cowboy who is lacking in the brain department and wants to bully the rest of the world, especially if it has to do with oil.....
It is not the USA that people hate but the policies that are coming out of the government over there. The American people need to unify against those policies. Americans also need to wake up and realise that there is a whole world out there and the USA is not the leader of it. Need to be a little less insular with yourselves and realise it is not all about the USA. I think that that is one reason as well that some people may make comments toward your country.

His job is not to fix the world ( he is the *DECIDER* he knows how it should be right ?)We HIRED him as a representative to carry out the wishes of the American people. IS THAT WHAT HE IS DOING ? NO , I DON~T THINK SO. I know YES what happends else where in the world effects us but damn ::::Bush is up in every bodies sh-t . PICK your battles DUDE. YOU can`t go into other countries and tell them to change there way of life they have been living for the last thousands of years. That is arrogant of us as a country to think that we can even do that. I can see why ALL other countries think what they do of us .

Calling Bush a hero is a stretch. To answer the rest of your question-most other nations are either socialist pipedreamers like the European, a third-world s***hole, or an Islamofacist freak state.
All these come together and recognize the US as the last wall against the New World Order. They hate independence and individuality, and as such, hating us is natural.

Most of the world does not hate the US as a country; what they dislike are some of its policies which tend to seek too much of its own benefits at the expense of other countries. As the world's only current super power, it would be naive to expect all countries to love it; that is the price they have to pay for being a super-power

the world is only against the policies made by the white house, the relationship fall down that far only after Bush became the president, we can see now that the U.S is involved in the most destruction in the world , directly like Iraq and Afghanistan or indirectly like Sudan, Lebanon, Palestine, and nest, North Korea and Iran. i think the Americans need to stand up more against these policies in order not to loose their ( good image) in the world.

From what I see, they don't hate us bad enough to not want to come here. Some no doubt wonder why Americans hate themselves.
The hate loving left comes up with the statistics and untrue statments. Go figure.

Maybe it's the death and destruction that America has become synonymous with.
"As many as 654,965 more Iraqis may have died since hostilities began in Iraq in March 2003 than would have been expected under pre-war conditions"
Survey conducted by John hopkins university:-
