He hasn't had a good start but remember he was in great form after last years Ashes loss.

He should be rested I think. He is a really good player to watch, but needs to be rested in order for a young player to be given a go.
When he comes back he'll know he's fighting for a spot in the side and we may see the best of Damien Martyn on show again which would be great.

Since Australia are performing good, there is no need to axe Damien Martyn from the Ashes Squad as he is a perfect Batsman when in form.

Its going to be unfortunate, but he has to be dropped. We all go by averages and performance. He failed in last Ashes also and this time also he has failed.
Think of Martyn coming at No.4 today as against Hussey. If he had got out at that stage, Aussies would have been 3 down for 30 and would have been under great pressure.
He need to be dropped on account of his performance in Ashes.

no, i don agree with da question,
Damien Martyn has been in great form in latest concluded champions trophy, although he had failed in da last 4 innings of Ashes but, he is a great player, wil Indian cricket team drop Sachin Tendulkar from da squad if fails in two test matches in South Africa.

Unfortunately, even though the next Test is to be played on his home ground[?], someone has to be dropped to make way for Shane Watson and he will be the unlucky one. Then Hussey will be the Number4 and Watson can come in at 6.This will also give Ponting an extra Bowler for the WACCA which if you read everything has provento be rather "dead" this Season.
