I heard that the UV lights help to boost your mood. What are the other pros. I'm aware of the cons and I don't intend on using them to become leather face.

How about Cancer: Ask Miss Maryland and the five times a week she went to the tanning beds. She's in this weeks Parade Magazine with the Sunday papers 12/03/06 read the story and then come back here and tell us how you feel about it.

She got carcinoma melanoma and had surgery numerous times to halt it, so far so good. It started when she started using tanning beds five times a week, she got "tan" aholic, I guess you'd call it.

Well, one pro is for dermatologists and oncologists who get the big bucks for treating all the wrinkled skin and cancer they have caused. Other than that, none. Oh, the UV lights do not help to boost your mood. That is another kind of white light. Why do you think they make you wear eye protection in tanning beds?

There are very few. During winter, we need a certain amount of light on our skin to produce vit D so if you are somewhere with very little light or cover your body/face when outside, a short session every couple of weeks may benefit you. Lifting mood is mainly for people who suffer SAD's (winter blues) caused by lack of sunlight.
But they do cause skin cancer and make you leathery so stick to the fake tan and get your face and arms in the daylight at least several times a week!
