I think they are getting at the Capricon 1 theory... a lot of people believe that there was no Moon landing... it was filmed on a Movie set,

As others have said it is a nostalgic look at Andy Kaufman and the innocence of the times he was doing stand up.

I think it's just about sitting around chatting and having a laugh. Good song though. saw them sing it live at Loch Lomond, great gig!

it's about "taxi" comedian andy kaufman...and it includes themes of different sketches he did... r.e.m. are not the most accesible band at the best of times.

It's R.E.M., most of it is nonsensical nonsense (yes, I know that's redundant). Still great music though.
