best theory right now is:

The solar system was originally the sun surrounded by an accretion disc of dust and rock. this disc clumped together to form planets (the rings of saturn are still doing this).

The earth was then a ball of molten rock which cooled to form a crust with a molten core. Comets, which are mostly ice nd rock hit the earth and gave oceans from which life emerged (or possibly came along with the comets)

Also at some point something hit the earth and ejected a large chunk which became the moon.

Science can't "explain" how the world came into being. Explanations are based upon facts and we don't have the facts at our disposal, all we have is theories.

If the question you really wanted to ask is:

"What theories does science have regarding the creation of the Earth?"

that is a different matter (no pun intended!)

Hello,

Its the area of cosmology, astrophysics and astronomy that you need to look into to find the most plausible (current) scientific theories of how the world (earth) and our solar system was born.

**Also we are talking mind numbling large numbers of years in time, the numbers of years involved get very abstract indeed.

**Current scientific estimates say the universe started some 20billion years ago with the big bang. (to put that into context humans have only exsisted for 60-70 thousand years) And that our universe is still in a state of expansion, this has been proven by the detection of the background sound created from the big bang.

**there are only a limited number of theories about how the universe came into exsistence. a) Big Bang b) Steady state c) mutiple big bang & collapsing universe d) Multiverses.

There are 2 competing laws we observe in nature:

1. Minimization of Enthalpy (Heat / Energy)
2. Maximization of Entropy (Randomness)

That is to say that a substance that exists in a random state or a low energy state is more stable than a substance that exists in non-random state or High Energy state.

Thus for something complex to exist (i.e. life) it must be so stable due to low energy. Thus only the most stable of complex things persist.

Obvious points:

Big Bang - Hydrogen forms starts and planets made of basically dust and debris from space.

Volcanoes fill Earth with CO2 and Methane

This promoted bacteria

Bacteria produces oxygen, needed for larger organisms

and then basically evolution
