The eve of the Civil War, a growing number of northerners had come to believe that an aggressive southern slave power had seized control of the federal government and threatened to subvert republican ideals of liberty, equality, and self-rule.

By reviewing the key events from 1845 to 1859, explain why many northerners had come to hold this view?

Okay, first up, to say the South "voted democratically" to leave is a bit off. Southern states had strict voting requirements - obviously, blacks and women were not allowed to vote, nor were poor whites. In order to vote, one had to be a landowner and in some states have a set amount of financial assets as well. Northern states took note of this and said there was a "slavocracy", a southern slave power that was in control and was working political events within the Southern states and even the federal government to their own benefit.
Key events: war with Mexico - roundly supported by southerners in order to gain more land for potential slave states - the South was limited in its territory by the 36'30 line of the Missouri Compromise and therefore wanted to get land it could expand to. Annexation of Texas likewise to add another slave state.
Tariff issues - South always pushing for low tariffs since it benefitted them and often got them.
Blocking Wilmot Proviso to prevent slavery in new lands acquired from Mexico.
Getting Kansas-Nebraska Act passed in order to again try to open up new lands for slavery that had been previously off limits, and holding up admission of Kansas with a legitimately elected anti-slavery government and constitution.
Blocking admission of California until they got a fugitive slave law.
Attempting to pick a fight with Spain to take over Cuba in order to get another slave state.
Having a majority of Southerners on the Supreme Court make the Dred Scott decision, which claimed slavery could exist anywhere and stated blacks were not citizens, and which overturned the (democratically made) Missouri Compromise - talk about activist judges!

Then the South, recognizing they had no control of the House, the Senate, or the presidency in 1860, fearing for the future of slavery and slavery's expansion, seceded.

Hope this helps. Try to use facts rather than assertions when making your arguments.

Your assumptions are wrong.

It was the South that wanted to leave the union because of the federal Republicans who wanted to centralize more authority over them from Washington (same as today).

The south voted democratically and left the union, creating their own Confederacy, which means the individual states have the same power as the central government (same as in Canada).

The greedy Rupublican federalists didn't want to lose the land and resources of the South, so they made up some lies and excuses to invade (same as Iraq and Vietnam).

The issue of slavery didn't come into play until a few years into the war. Slavery didn't concern Lincoln as much as saving the unity of the United States.

To answer your question, the northerners came to hold negative views about the South because of propaganda spread by the Republicans.

All i ought to discover is that it is not a definite lady yet a maternal lady that has left a maternal one. mothers are no longer basically women people with toddlers; they variety from nonmothers. "being pregnant and motherhood," Hrdy wrote, "continually substitute a girl" (1999, ninety 5). Motherhood, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, would not mean that one turns into an ancestress. An ancestress is a dynast; she is a girl who lived and reproduced and left a lineage of descendants stimulated with the aid of her concepts. An ancestress approach is long term, aimed no longer basically at very own survival or procreation yet additionally at making use of social concepts to sell the survival, reproduction, and social achievement of that offspring, its offspring, and their descendants.
