it's really better to have work experience before you take up higher studies so that you can understand what will be discussed and you'll have real life experiences to help you make sense of the readings.
plus, a lot of work in masters programs involve case studies with your classmates. if you have no work experience, you won't be able to bring anything significant to the table.
i'm taking up a masters program now and, believe me, i'd like to kill the person in charge of accepting students because they've taken in a lot of fresh graduates who just slow the class down with their questions.
if you're thinking of taking up an MBA, work for at least 2 years first.

Education has degenerated, it boils down to learning by heart and getting your grade. If you do this for an MBA then it will be like having a piece of paper without any value attached to it. Work experience is required for MBA and it should not be in isolated functions but the future MBA should be aware of the whole working of the Organization he works to gain experience from. This will go a long way in making your MBA education more creative and fruitful. The most fulfilling MBA is an AACSB accredited MBA from my experience of being one.
