what kind of questions should you be asking yourself to figure out if it is the right school therapist for you? I've been to my college therapist/counselor 3 times but i always doubt she is the right one for me and i'm thinking about asking for another counselor because i feel like im getting worse. By the way i have depression and an eating disorder.

I wouldn't worry too much asking about their qualifications etc because they wouldn't be there if they were not qualified. If you do not feel like you have a rapport with this person then by all means, you should change. It's one of those gut instincts and there are no specific questions to figure out. If you still don't feel right after three sessions, I suggest you swap. It is one thing to not like a person and another to not like what they are telling you when it is the truth though. What you are dealing with is really rough and sometimes the truth is hard to hear. Good luck with it all.

I would ask them where they went to school at, probably a couple different ones. I would ask how long they have had their license. I would ask if they have ever had their license suspended. Main thing to ask is what is their therapy type.. Do they do cognitive therapy or something else. This therapist needs to have experience working with people with eating disorders as well. You can call the state board and they will tell you stuff about the doctor. Stuff like have they ever been in trouble. I have seen clients switch therapists several times. This is because you have to like your counselor or therapist. If you don't like them you are not going to trust them. Good luck.

Like choosing a pastor, see to it that the therapist/counselor is not false prophet or with right education and training. If in general, most students do not complain. If not, try another for comparison. Having the same condition, means somethin is wrong with you.

If u are diagnosed with depression and eating disorder u should visit a clinical psychologist. May be your college counselor is good. if he/she has the knowledge to help u, u should try to listen to him/her. What I mean is that if he/she is just a counselor specialised in counselling psychology then u probably need someone who can help u in a more spesific and systematical way.
