So now we have Tony Blair telling us we will have to except Trident. Whether we like it or not. What a hypocrite, he is doing his best to stop North Korea or Iran from having a nuclear deterant.
and quoting the Nuclear Poliferation Treaty, when he himself is setting about breaking that same treaty, it call for disarmament of all powers, not investment in new nuclear devices. If anyone out there belives his figure of Twenty Billion pound, they must be sick in the head. With regard to that other idiot, the leader of the opposition David Cameron, of course he will back Tony Blair, with their warmongering ways, can you see any point in changing this Government when the time comes. You will get the same policices, with a new set of liars. Be Bold Vote for a Party other that the Labour & Conservatives, you have many others to choose from.

TB is no different than any other politician, they are mostly all liars. I do trust him in being realistic in having the ultimate nuclear defence system. Face facts we need it ,whether you like it or not. At the beginning of the second world war the UK wasn`t in a position to defend itself and was very lucky not to have been defeated by Germany. The USA have had some very dodgy presidents, any nutter can run that country it is only a matter of time when they elect another mad man who will start of a nuclear war. (they are the only country to have used a nuclear bomb in anger and that was at the time when Japan had offered to negotiate peace) This country needs to be in a position to have a deterrent to protect it from the mad men or woman who would use them without any consideration to the lasting damage they cause.

Trident is a necessity.
We have to be able to deter those who would wage war against us.
Other countries in the wordl dont hold the same values, trident is not for agressive use but for defence of our way of life.
Russia , a resurgent economy ,awash with money has shown that a leopard doesnt change its spots.Iran has shown that rogue states can use propaganda effectively to fool the left wing around the globe into supporting their nuclear programme.

Trident is expensive , but changing nature of foreign threat means that defence can be cut in other areas.Areas that cost far in excess of trident.Much of the expense of trident will be recycled back into the economy.
It isnt hypocritical to ask rogue states not to have a nuclear programme while we develop ours.We have proved to the world we are developed and responsible. The rogue states have proved that they may attack neighbours at any time, they oppress their population and murder them at will.
The nuclear umbrella has kept western europe safe from soviet aggression for the entirety of the cold war.
Im sorry, but some left wing liberals really need to wake up and smell the coffee, your right to say what you want in your question was bought buy britains strong defence.freedom isnt free
I in no way support tony blair. But i feel that my country should be adequately defended

No, from his dismal record, I don't trust him (or the opposition) with anything. He seems to think that the truth is whatever the spin machine can get away with.

Yes, there is hypocrisy in the non-proliferation treaty. The deal is that countries that don't have nukes don't develop them and those that do get rid of them. His policy gives a valid reason for others to assume that the treaty is dead.

Of course I would trust Tony Blair. He is our elected leader, so he is always right. You can trust him to do what he thinks is best, even if no-one agrees with him!

As to stopping North Korea and Iran from having nuclear weapons capability, if fanatics are prepared to blow up themselves and a busload of innocents with C4, would you trust them with something much much worse?

Having said that, I can think of better ways of spending the money...

the time has come for voting for the 'bnp' some are saying. and 'no' they are not a racist party, but some people who speak for them are unfortunately biggots, that is not what they stand for. (myself certainly not) but if anyone is prepared to read their 'manifesto policies' on their website, they address the real issues that british people are concerned with. issues neither blair nor cameron have/will face or actively carry through.

i don't know I'm no political expert but something doesn't seem right at the minute. upgrading trident missiles, just how inefficient is a weapon of mass destruction. i don't think hes doing it alone. anyway there is no point spending a countries budget to "protect" a country that will end up with no infra-structure or resources. He should ask the British whats best for them, new and safe hospitals or new weapons of mass destruction.

This is the young man who campaigned for Ban the Bomb in his twenties! Peace loving Tone. What a change of tune!
The man is a waffler and talks through parts that are unmentionable. It is impossible to understand why he was re-elected after two terms of complete fiascos. People must be stupid.
