Immediately. A friend of mine didn't have a period for almost 2 years because of this. She had a child in December of one year and another baby Sept of the next year.
The comment about the breastfeeding stopping ovulation, this is also FALSE. She was breastfeeding at the time.
If you are comfortable having sex, then do it, but just rememeber you are risking some major things, including damage to your female parts. They tell you to wait 6 weeks for a reason. i didn't wait but 2 weeks and i had a c-section. I gushed blood for the next three months. It is something you take a chance on.

Sometimes almost immediatly, but the chances decrease if the woman is below normal weight (which usualy prevents ovulation, especialy after a stress on the body like just giving birth. Or she is brest feeding which produces a hormone that stops ovulation as well.

As soon as your body starts ovulating. Different for everyone.
But I will say that my Grandma is a freakishly fertile woman...after having her 4th child, she became pregnant again 3 weeks later. =/ My Pops and my Uncle are barely 10 months apart (what is typically known as "Irish Twins").

You should wait at least 6 weeks before trying to get pregnant again.

To put it bluntly, you'd better not be so selfish and wait the recommended six-to-eight weeks to give the woman's body time to heal properly. She has just experienced something similar to having a watermelon forced thru a keyhole.
If you just want bragging rights that you only waited two weeks, then your (knowledgable) friends will call you 'stubby'.

The next time you ovulate. It is not healthy though and rough on your body.
