Isn't each person's individual race a part of that person? It is a physical attribute to that person. So when deciding on something or picking someone for a certain thing, why is it racist to do this and consider the race of the person among all other things about that person?

I think it is normal to consider race in a person but it becomes racism when race becomes a huge factor and is discriminated against in the decision making (whatever it may be).

Decision making should never be "well, he should not be doing this because he is white or he should be doing this because he is black".

One's race has nothing to do with his/her ability and capabilities. To determine that simply because of his race, he/she won't be able to do this and that. That is racism.

To do that would be stereotyping that person. Do you know what stereotyping means? You even said it is a physical attribute, not a reflection of their mental capacity.

I disagree with you. This comes back to the "nature verses nurture" debate. I have more in common with a person of the same education level and career, irrespective of colour, than I do with a person of different education level and career who is the same colour.
