Hope you're going to publish the answer to this, because I'm both stumped and intrigued.

The only reference I can find to "oont" is a North Indian supply train in a Kipling poem. "Crode" comes up only as a name, and "heunt" only in German. None of this seems to bear any relation to Sue Townsend, so I give up - what is the connection?

The only thing I can think of is something personal. She's got four children hasn't she - there not her nick-names for them......or the names of her dogs.......I don't know, I'm guessing.
