warm water has always worked best for me. If this doesn't work contact your Dr or pharmacy. Using the warm water and doing some leg exercises with the baby will help just like adults warm water and exercise will help them go. Good Luck and Congrats on your little one.

Do not give her prune juice! Sometimes infants will only have a BM a couple times a week. She probably has gas. Lay her on her back and lightly pump her legs toward her stomach repeatedly as long as she allows you to or until you are tired of doing it. If you are breastfeeding her, think about the things you are eating, you should avoid spicy foods and chocolate. If she is on formula, consider switching her to a lower iron formula...when switching you do it gradually, the first week use 3/4 of your current formula and 1/4 of the new, the following week use 1/2 and 1/2 and the third week use 3/4 new formula and 1/4 old formula and continue to use that mix so she is getting enough iron but not too much, you might even be able to stay at 1/2 and 1/2. You should always call your doctor first, this is an infant you don't have any experience and you don't want to make any mistakes and please don't use any home remedies on a baby that is so young.

I took my premie home from the hospital at 7 weeks old... so only 2 weeks old if born at due date... she had an opperation by a very skilled doctor (apparently best in canada).. opperation was for her bowels to make a connection that wasn't there.... i was worried that she may get constipated and irritate opperation... Dr. said to put one little dallop (drop) of corn syrup in her milk.... apparently this is an OLD trick that used to be done... i'd say you could try that ... give them water in between feeds or at the end of the feed.... make sure it's water that's good for infants... not just tap water... so boiled for 2 min and aloud to cool to room temperature... that helps prevent constipation... u could also try a small amount of prune juice but check with Dr. before you do that... or one of those telehealth type phone lines (government thing in canada)
i currently sit there for a WHILE (sometimes 30 min) and just burp my baby.... helps the child relaxe and allow things to pass a little more easily
good luck

Give her a warm bath and move her leg a little bit, gently massage stomach. With bottle fed babies always make sure to get the formula mixture exactly right. Breastfed children hardly ever are constipated, because the liquid to nutrients ratio is always spot on.
maybe also change the formula, too much iron in the formula can cause constipation in a sensitive baby.

If she is being bottle fed you could try giving her water...or water with a little orange juice in it(freshly squeezed not out of a carton)
Breast fed babies dont tend to get constipated....and they can strain for other reasons

a baby can go up to 3 days with out pooping dont worry untill u go that long. if it has been over 3 days call your dr. mine told me about dark karo syrup 1 tsp in their formula I assume you are formula feeding because breastfeed babies dont usually have this problem. if all else fails take a qtip and put vasaline on it and insert it into the rectum and gently move it around in a small circle this will stimulate the pooper reflex.

1 month babies are never suppose to take anything except mother milk, even doctors don't recommend anything except milk for at least 4-6 months, she might have gas trouble. consult your doctor first......my male Baby was having same problem... we consulted with child specialist.
