LOL, the tales of slavery are exaggerated. The workers are given quotas per shift and get paid more if they work harder, and most do. The average wage for a working class laborer is around US$500 per month. But that is working 6.5 days week with 12 hours shifts.
Nevertheless, in the rural areas and villages without industries, people do just about work for food, clothings and shelter only. The money never gets pass the daily needs. So many are happy to be working in the factories in the cities just to be able to put away some savings to sent home every now and then. It's an improvement to the previous standard of living in total.
Why ? LMAO...an empty stomach is probably the best motivation for good old honest hard work which is abundant and provides compensation in return.

Don't feel sad for Chinese people in factories. They are happy to be working so they can feed their families. You should take a trip to China. You will find working conditions are not as good overall as in America and longer hours, but that is life. You may also be fortunate enough as I have to visit factories where craftsman still make things by hand. They are truly skilled at their jobs and produce fine products. By the way, you would freak out if you found out how cheap those $200 shoes, $20 DVD, $3,500 set of Callaway golf clubs, etc are in China.

Also, don't compare their hourly wage to the American hourly wage. The price of one average meal in America can feed a family in China for at least a week.

Because their income is enough to suit their lifestyle back in their country. People do everything to survive, there they're fronted with two options to starve or accept the low wages.

They probably prefer earning paltry wages in a sweatshop, to slaving away in the rice paddies.

Nike was used to be made in Korea, now Indonesia, not the Chinese. Anyway, everyone is a slave to someone one way or another, no matter where you are.

They like to work and have money like you and I. Only trouble is their economy. Many people like to blame America for paying them so little. The alternative is that they don't get paid at all.

How old are you? Go to bed before your mom finds out you're on here at this time of the night.
