Charlie, my beloved dog...16 years and I had to have him put down because he got to the point he couldn't walk and lost all bowel control. I felt like I murdered my best friend.

Lets see...I've had a lot of pets that lived a long time. I would say my dog she I had her since I was about 6 at that time she was already about 5yrs old she died when I was 21.
But tortoises can live up to almost and beyond a hundred years. My mother has one, she had hers since she was about 5 and mom is now in her 50's and she lets her roam around the house and the backyard.
I guess it depends how you care for your animals that makes them live long.

I hear tortises live for quite a while, maybe arounf 60-70 years. mom had a dog that lived for 17 years. It was sad towards the end. I held her when they put her to sleep?
