My bro in laws front wheels will not engage.The 4x4 indicater light comes on but the wheels are not engaging.Everything,axels,driveshaft,all look good,but what is the type of acuator up under front bumper?

It's electric and you probably have a problem either with the actuator pump or the axle actuator control. The easiest thing to do is test for power and ground at the actuator pump. A Wiring diagram would help, but I couldn't imagine their being more than 2-3 wires. The pump may be getting the signal (ground or Power) and possibly faulty which would require replacement. Chances are if the 4wd light isn't flashing, the control unit doesn't see a fault and it's most likely the pump. I hope this helps.

It should be electric and have a solenoid on the transfer case that engages the transfer case to activate the front axle.

if it runs on vaccum,then maybe hes got a hose broken.is it a full time,or does it got lock-in hubs?if its got lock in hubs,maybe they are not locking in.
