I got my license about a year and a half ago. It depends on where you live. I'm in California. We're the most expensive for that license. You can go online and find your local OREA. (Office of Real Estate Appraisers) Then you can find out the licensing fees. The price of classes vary greatly. I'd say do the classes online. That way you can work at your own pace. It cost me a total of about $1,200. But I had a related degree so I didn't need to take as many classes. If you have some college you can probably save yourself some dough. It's not cheap and it's not easy. But everything worthwhile is hard to get.

It all depends on which state you're located in. In Oregon, it costs about $1000 for course instruction, books and the license fee. It takes about 3 or 4 months to complete the license requirements. You should check out www.proschools.com. I've had a great experience working with them. Hope this helps - good luck.
