Depends on where you are copying it to. You 'rip' a CD, or the contents of it, anyways, into the hardrive of your computer to 'download' it into your mp3, say. You 'copy' a cd by 'burning' another with exactly the same files, or songs. This is all technically speaking, you don't have to say 'ripping' or 'burning' or whatever, since what you're doing is 'copying', basically. So to answer your question, yes, don't mind the different ways of calling it.

i guess it depends on what you think copying is.
"ripping" is copying the content of a CD (or DVD) onto your harddrive.
you can then choose to copy, or "burn" that content onto another blank CD (or DVD)
