Hi,congratulations!i have a 7 month daughter,so i was pregnant until recently, and from my experience i tell you that the alteration of the sense of smell will pass at about 15-17 weeks of pregnancy.don't worry,it's not bad for the baby the smell of detergents if you don't stay too long in that smell.i was bothered even by the smell of sweat!if you would like to talk about other things, contact me.bye-bye

It's probably just that you are repelled by the smell. In the first 20 weeks I had to change my shampoo, hand soap and dish detergent because I couldn't stand the smells. Even now, at 40 weeks, I feel sick when I smell them and various other things. Just find a smell you can live with, or, perhaps find an unscented washing powder.
Good luck.

Unles you're talking about chlorine bleach or some other very potent product - then it's not an issue of damaging the health of your baby. Normal laundry detergents are generally safe but you'll feel better about it if you use rubber gloves while doing the laundry. The peace of mind is worth it - even if it will do no harm. And the smells - most pregnant women experience smell aversions just like taste aversions and cravings.

its safe to use normal washing pwders and its also absolutely safe to wash clothes by hands with that washing powder. Unless it has any bleaching agent in it. Most of the washing powders dont have bleaching agent in it so its safe.

About the smell.. then my dear its one of the blessings of pregnancy. The day u get pregnant the first sense that upgrades is ur nose. It upgrades from human nose to Dog nose. It happens to most of the women.... any kind of smell can make them sick. IT could be anykind of food smell or any perfume or detergent as in ur case. so take it easy. by the end of second trimster it will be settled back to human nose (hopefully .as it happens to me) even if doesnt, it wil be ok rigt after u give birth. Nothing to worry. Just chill.

No, washing powder is not going to hurt you while you are pregnant. It is amazing how acute the sense of smell gets while pregnant. Every woman has some smell that bothers her or makes her sick. Mine was fried steak and hamburger, Ugh! Made me nauseous.

You become sensitive to smells when you are pregnant. The detergent won't hurt you, but you might want to change to an unscented soap until the baby is born (and that goes for dryer sheets, too).

You should research what you don't know about household chemicals, and what they don't tell us about them. Some things are very toxic, and dangerous to breathe. Including the fumes that are outside from cars, trucks, and everything else. You will be amazed at what you find. It's scary and you'll probably go all organic when you find out whats in these things. It's sick I stopped educating myself about it simply because it made me sick that we are not informed of the damage these things cause.
This is why so many people die from cancer. It takes time, but there is so much that is bad for us to consume. Just search as much as you can under toxic chemicals, including what they may, and have sprayed in our breathing air.
(I'm not sure who "they" are, but?)

Here is just one of the many informative sites. It's so worth reading.. http://www.rense.com/general19/chemical.htm

I don't think it will hurt you. I'm sure you're not inhaling deeply when you're using it. Use rubber gloves, maybe try some liquid laundry soap.
