For most people, it is actually quite difficult to become pregnant. There was a study done a few years ago that tested pregnancy rates with partners and found that a womans body has to literally grow accustomed to a specific man's sperm. The natural defenses of a womans body will tend to attack any intrusive matter found in her that the body deems to be 'foreign'. Hence, the early initial stages of relationships (ie. prior to 1st pregancy) can often be difficult in large part due to the womans immune system battling against his sperm. Once her body has grown accustomed and accepted her partners sperm, pregnancy becomes a fairly easy task. Of course there are other variables that come into play once a woman has already had a child - such as cervical dialation, fallopian tube retention, etc. that give a previous mother an advantage in bearing more children.

Regarding how long it takes a woman's body to get pregnant...that really depends on that particular man and woman and cannot be answered correctly because every man and woman is created different. There are a multitude of factors that come into play with regards to creating a child including the strength of the male's sperm, his sperm count, frequency of intercourse, ovulation, egg retention, cervical dialation, hormonal balance, etc. That is just the tip of a very large iceberg. It goes so much further than just that. I've seen it happen after just one time having sex, and I've seen couples who literally spent years trying to get pregnant before they found success. good luck.

Your body, hormones and Uterus are all set up and ready to go as soon as you ovulate the next time after preganacy. It is the human nature to want to reproduce. There are probably some very good scientific answers as well.
It doesn't happen to everyone but I know of several people who had a very hard time getting pregnant the first time and the second time was no problem.
Also just see what your doctor has to say next time about this specific question when you go in for your next exam.
Happy Holidays!

It's different for every pregnancy and for every woman. Your next pregnancy might be as difficult to start as your last one. Or it might be really easy.

The how long it takes is up to your body. I've read women on here that have gotten pregnant 3 and 4 months after giving birth.

I didn't get pregnant after my first one for 6 years and now since my second pregnancy I have been pregnant every year since hopefully they tie my tube this time since birth control isn't an option for me.
