quickly make sure that our friends know we have either a new car, house,rugs,toys,tv or whatever it is...myself on the other hand dont really want anyone to know, I m happier keeping it to myself.

People are not the same. There are always people who brags. Leave them alone and dont try to compete with them. Such people will eventually loose their friends and others will keep away from them.
Only when this happen, they will realise the mistakes.

He likes to portray an image of success. He wants all his friends to think that he is doing that well because that makes him feel good. I don't really think it is doing any harm, though it is kinda childish. But some people need that reassurance. If that is his biggest flaw, read some of these other questions and count your blessings.

I think your husband is caught up in what is well known as keeping up with the jone's, and quite frankly nobody cares, I really wouldn't let it bother you cause sooner or later someone will tell him.

Ya I think it has something to do with Penis Envy. I get the feeling most people brag when they don't feel good about them selves. Have you tried talking to him about this at all?

o my, my ex was like that, his whole family was. they all like to brag (sometimes even to each other). i guess that was part of the reason why i fell out of love with him. i sure hope its brought about by nurture and not nature, at least there's a chance for the kids.

Some people like "oneupmanship"... They like to be seen as the leaders and want to tell people how much better, richer, than other people...

to your husband, its part of an image he wants others to see him as. to him, its important to come across as successful, wealthy, etc. so he shares these things so that others are sure to percienve him accurately. to you, this image isnt important. we all have an image of ourselves we want others to understand, and we do things to project that image. (thats why ppl put bumper stickers on cars, wear brand names, etc).
