I remember in the 90's the only people that said emo were in the punk scene and it referred to post-punk bands like Fugazi. I think they said emo-core. Now its for guys who wear makeup and tight pants or goths?

never heard anyone call fugazi an emo band.

90s emo was like jawbreaker, texas is the reason, teenage fanclub, etc. in fact, people may have used the term emo first in reference to jawbreaker. today, emo seems to mean rockier-sounding top 40 music.
