i can not help my daughter with any of these problems and she does not understand algebra 1. 1-3/4y= y=-y

Are you sure you copied it down correctly? If you say that y = -y then y must be 0. But then 3/(4y) would be undefined. Alternatively, if you meant 1 - (3/4)y it still wouldn't work because 1 - (3/4)(0) = 1, not 0.

Can you write it again properly putting on your contact lenses???

My guess is that it's genetic ☺
As Kenyai said, make sure you copied it down correctly, because what you have here doesn't make sense.
