LOL! I understand the feeling. I remember that dreadful day when my father said, "Sweetie, you are no longer a child, grab some wrapping paper, get some bows, and join the club"

I cried. I thought, why did you lie to me about Santa Claus, just so my world would come crashing down on me when I found out the truth? But it was fun while it lasted.

And in all seriousness, I still love Christmas. The smell of peppermint and Christmas trees. The seasonal songs. The eggnog. Family. Giving. I try to find joy in the little things.

I personally enjoy Christmas more now than I did as a child. As you get older you are able to push through all the meaningless parts of Christmas and focus on the real thing: the birth of Christ, giving, sharing, family, etc.

The things that you mention disliking are the things that many people enjoy. I get a thrill out of wrapping Christmas presents and watching them pile up under the tree...it makes me look forward to giving them to my family and seeing their joy. Admittedly, when the wrapping paper doesn't cooperate it gets a bit unnerving. ;)

Maybe if you took a little time to relax and reflect on what the season is truly about, you'll re-gain your Christmas spirit. :)

A I grow older, my feelings towards Christmas change. The gift exchanging, Santa Claus and all the commercial attributes are not what is important to me. My children love all of that and I want them to enjoy it as well. However, as a Christian the meaning of Christmas grows in my heart. I listen to a song called Oh Holy Night and the meaning of the words and beatiful music chills me and allows me to see the world differently.

For me, the older I get, the more special occasions just become "another day in the life". I think that Christmas has just become so commercialized that it is easier to think of it as just another reason to "have to" shop for people. Especially now that other religions have used the "separation of church and state" to frighten government into not recognizing the true meaning of Christmas. It is getting harder and harder to express Christian feelings about anything.

No, you just realize that christmas has become another way of stimulating the economy by buying things you dont need. Stop buying gifts and find another way to show the people you love that you care about them.

You know, I was thinking that same thing this week.

That sucks. I was officially "old" when I hurt my back getting the Christmas tree out of the attic.

Because all the hassel of the business haunts you when you become an adult. The shopping, crowds, cooking, etc....! When we were children, it was all receiving. Now you become the giver. it's great to give but a hassel to go get. lol

I hate it. I'm a Scrooge. Whenever I hear merry Christmas I just want to say "yeah, right."
