Assuming the parents are exhaustively well-read on the subject. They seem oddly basic.

Are there any other sorts of classes I should look into? Or avoid? I mean of a particular type, of course, not "the one at the (Your Town) community centre" -- I just want an idea of what to search for...

You should definately check with your OB regarding classes to see if you can find a class with others who would like to have the same type of birth plan as you... For example, maybe your OB can reccommend a class for people who have chosen natural childbirth (if that is what you are into) or water births - This way you can formulate more specific questions based on your plan.

I had read up ALOT on pregnancy/childbirth, and I watched TLC's 'A Baby Story' pretty much everyday. So when I took a "preparation for childbirth" class, I felt like I didnt learn much, everything they taught I pretty much already knew!

I think you "should" try to decide which "type" of birth ... Lamaze, Bradley Method, etc and take a class about that. Then if you are going to nurse, try to take a class on that. It's not always easy and they have a lot of good info. Good luck to you!
