Fo us, it is tradition to put our tree up on the 16th December.
It has historical significance relating to a promise made to God long ago.
I love putting the tree up. We have a whole bunch of old Christmas trimmings (that the new stuff can't match) and then we finish it off with an angel on the top :-)

We put ours up the weekend after thanksgiving, since it reminds us to get the shopping done earlier. It's sorta like a giant, unmistakable post-it note.
