In terms of current bands and in terms of lyrics as far as having some meaning and not being overly deep so you have to analyse the song when you listen to it. Audioslave.
In terms of lyrics that are perfectly written for the singer and really get the most out of the vocal talent. Easily Evanesence.

Metallica.... because they are very spiritual but yet captivating and carefree. They rock hard... well back in the day when they had hair. I love classic rock.... It is the purest form of rock music.... not this new emo style crap. A C DC rocks as well. Van Halen not VanHagaar. Guns N Roses... Welcome to the Jungle.... the list goes on.

afi....their lyrics are poetic and dramatic, yet i can relate them to my life. oh, and the music is pretty good too.
