The ball is there for the same reason there is one in some cans of spray paint. It's a remixing ball. Some paints or polish tend to separate into the various ingredients if left sitting too long. Shaking the container gets things blended again, and having a small ball bouncing around inside the container stirs everything up easier and faster.

SOME POLISHES WON'T MIX PROPERLY WITHOUT IT.
JUST LIKE A PAINT CAN, IT MIXES THE COLOR IN SO IT'S EVEN ,NOT SPLOTCHY.
