I guess the question is to expand the abbreviation ISO - and my best bet would be Indian Standards Organization.

hmm, I guess I was fanatically nationalistic...sorry...it is International Standards Organization

From Wiki: "The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an international standard-setting body composed of representatives from national standards bodies. Founded on February 23, 1947, the organization produces world-wide industrial and commercial standards, the so-called ISO standards.
While the ISO defines itself as a non-governmental organization (NGO), its ability to set standards which often become law through treaties or national standards makes it more powerful than most NGOs, and in practice it acts as a consortium with strong links to governments. Participants include several major corporations and at least one standards body from each member country.
ISO cooperates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), which is responsible for standardization of electrical equipment."

ISO 9660, a standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), defines a file system for CD-ROM media. It aims at supporting different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and systems that follow the Unix specification, so that data may be exchanged.

An extension to ISO 9660, the Joliet format, adds support to allow longer file names and non-ASCII character sets.

DVDs may also use the ISO 9660 file system. However, the UDF file system is more appropriate on DVDs as it has better support for the larger media and is better suited for modern operating system needs.
