I am assuming you are speaking of San Francisco. As far as I know, you can grow the trees but you probably aren't going to get a lot of fruit - not warm enough. Move to Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Sebastopol, or Graton. Now there, you can grow lots and lots of cherries.
