Check out http://www.ClassTopic.com They have some great topics that I've used in the past. Each topic has three good sources to get you started on the research, too.

Try writing a speech on something u actually kno how to do. Such as bake a cake, how to build a desk but its more of a speech than an actually showing of the demonstration. So you should do a speech on how to get over a cold or how to prevent yourself from getting an STD or AIDS...theirs nonstop information about that and its an interesting topic too so everyone will listen and on top of that you'll be informing ur peers

without knowing what your main interests are, what you already know and are capable of "informing" others better, i cannot suggest any specific topic for your speech. nevertheless, let me suggest a few guidelines on how to go about it and be effective.
generally, an informative speech is nothing but a "what" or "how to" speech. this means, it has to be about something you know, know so well, or are willing to know better, so as to be able to "inform" or teach others. so:
1) choose a topic you already know very well, are quite good at, or have mastered well because you actually know it, or do it / deal with it more often than anyone else in the audience.
2) even if it's something you barely know, but are truly interested in and would like to know better, you can research on it, learn it better and so be able to speak on it with authority.
the key is credible mastery of the subject. if you "know", you know you can "show". and they will believe you.
let me suggest, further, that it's not enough that the topic be interesting to you because you know it or know it well. it should be about something that will make your audience want to pay attention and listen.
1) establish mastery and credibility - you don't have to tell them openly, but it's important for you to know within yourself why they should listen to you, not to anbody else. what, why and how much do you know about the topic for them to believe and actually learn from you?
2) establish importance and relevance, even urgency -
why this topic and not another? why should they know it? why should they know it now, not later?
hope this helps. good luck!

think of your informative speech like a movie, song, article in a magazine, etc... you want me be unique. you don't need to inform people why driving is safe or how smoking will kill somebody. inform people about something you know the majority of people in your class have no idea about. now the perfect informative speech i think is about polarized sunglasses and the benefit they provide other than fashion. you can go onto lenscrafters.com for that information. anothor could be about the movie "the fountain." i saw that movie and many people walked out the theatre because they are too stupid to understand the story. last but not least; you can inform your classmates about BLACK FRIDAY, the day after thanks giving and how it got its name. if this doesn't help you then you are on your own.

Your speech can be on anything you find interesting.
The challenge is determining from your own psyche which one to talk about.
What is your favorite hobby? What is your favorite subject?
Usually, a student in your position is shooting himself in the foot because he thinks that the subject MUST be interesting to the AUDIENCE. Just because none of your classmates like stampcollecting like you do, is no reason to skip using that as your subject. Just because you are the only one who likes to bake cakes is no reason to not explain the process.
Sometimes, the best sollution is to write down 6 things that you know how to do... bake, solve for X, change a tire, prepare for a party, dance. Then roll a single die and curse the fates for assigning a bummer. Or pick out 6 subjects you find interesting... student government, chemistry, rap music, muscle cars, fashion trends... Roll the die and curse the fates for assigning the most abstract.
For a speech class, the subject DOESN'T matter much. Organization, preparation and presentation does matter.
You still need to follow the rules of writing an essay when writing a speech. Introduction, body and conclusion.
The introduction must NOT say anything like "This speech is about ..." Instead, present your main point in a short sentence. Like, "Baking is not as difficult as people assume." Present 3 topics that will relate to the main point state those subtopics in a few sentences that are seperate from the main point. Like, "Baking a cake requires measuring, mixing, cooking, and frosting."
The body should expand on each subtopic and keep the order of those paragraphs in the same order as they were introduced. Connect the subtopic to the main point. "Measuring is as simple as counting out 3 eggs."
In the last paragraph, summarize the subtopics (in sequence). Finally, restate your main point but do it as a conclusion or a deduction based on the subtopics. "Because measuring is simple, mixing is like playing in the mud, and frosting is easy as fingerpainting, I conclude that baking is not as difficult as people assume."

How to get rid of hic-ups. How to burn a cd. How to balance a check book. How reconize signs that people will do on a sub-concious level that indicates they are lying. How to releive stress.
Practice your speech 1. capture their attention with an opening statement "Did you know that when a person sneezes, it is not possible to for them to keep their eyes open."
