for those of uwith minimal research such as, vaccinations are great! lets shoot up the children when we don't know the long term effects! any questions?

i've been booted from 3 dr.s offices for expressing a love for my child that gos beyonde dr=god. my child is partially vaccinated, that's funny that u can judge an unvaccinated child though. did u know that a vaccinated child for one week after vaccination carries that disease with them? did u know unvaccinated children don't carry dieases with them unless they get a rare sickness such as wild polio that doesn't exsist? luckily i don't live in michagin and can plea philosophical exemption. but in reality, vaccinated children are the threat to unvaccinated children. do more research. sorry not trying to be mean, just putting it out there.

i worded it wrong, excuse me. there are ZERO cases of wild polio in the U.S. i think thaere are wp cases in other countries. that is why i did vaccinate my some with ipv. as for dtap having polio in it? that's incorrect. diptheria, tetenus and acellular pertusus. no polio there, but they often vaccinate children with the dtap along with the polio, or polio with anything because the ipv is a low risk shot. and again...zero cases of wild polio in the us...zero. thank u for responding!

You are right that we don't know the long term effects of some of these vaccinations. When my son recieved his chicken pox vaccination, I asked the nurse if it protects against shingles in later life or if it makes it possible to get it. (In case anyone doesn't know: shingles is an extemely painful disease of the nerves that people who have had chicken pox can get.) The nurse told me that at this time it is not known. So, you are absolutely right!

What concers me is what's in it besides weakened germs. From the CDC:
There are four basic categories of vaccine additives:
a. adjuvants - enhance immune system response
Examples: aluminum gels or salts
b. antibiotics - prevent bacterial and fungal growth
Examples: neomycin, streptomycin
c. stabilizers - maintain effectiveness in face of adverse conditions
Examples: sulfites, monosodium glutamate, gelatin
d. preservatives - prevent spoilage
Examples: thimerosal, formaldehyde, parabens

Also from the CDC:

Since July 1999, efforts have been made not only to reduce the thimerosal content of vaccines, but also to carry out further research to better understand the potential human health effects, if any, from exposure to thimerosal in vaccines. Two avenues of research have been pursued, one involving the use of clinical and laboratory information to examine the blood levels of mercury in children shortly after vaccination, and a second involving the use of epidemiologic information to examine health outcomes in children who have received thimerosal containing vaccines.

Sounds to me like the CDC is not completely sure of what the effects of vaccinations are--and they are using our children as guinnea pigs.

You are wrong, wild polio does still exist, in the U.S it can be contracted from people coming into the country that do have it. The DTaP and the IPV are all vaccines that have parts of the virus in it, therefore it cannot reassemble itself to cause the actual virus because it does not contain the whole virus to begin with. Be careful how you do your research, many articles and websites are not reputable.

Purplepartygirl- you are right, the parents of children who are vaccinated should not be worried at all about your child not being vaccinated, it is your child at risk, not theirs.

Amy- you are right, we should be more worried about the additives in the vaccines than the actual viruses themselves, the additives tend to be overlooked. As far as the chicken pox shot it is now known that there is a good chance that if you get the shot you can still get the wild virus, they are now thinking about giving booster shots of the CP vaccine. As far as shingles, it would stand to reason that you could still end up with shingles with the vaccine, because the vaccine is a whole live weakend virus, therefore it would remain dormant in the body, thereby giving way to shingles later in life

I'm extremely wary of mandatory vaccinations for a number of reasons, of course including the unknown and known long term effects!

I do not understand how some people would have a problem with my unvaccinated child being in their child's school though if they are so confident in the vaccinations ability to fight off whatever it is... You can't have it both ways!

I don't know-they ruled out autism as a side effect of vaccinations-common misperception. Deafness can occur when pregnant moms are exposed to chicken pox, people died and were horribly deformed due to polio, TB killed loads of people, nice and slow. Mumps and Measles weren't exactly a picnic. Vaccinations have been around for a while-at forty I had most of them except chicken pox-I had hoped my 6yo would get cp naturally, no such luck. the ramifications of him getting CP as an adult male are a little grim, we bit the bullet in kindergarten. I don't think its the uniformed who choose to vaccinate, I'd like to think its parents who are interested in having safe and healthy kids.Kids still die by the boatloads in "informed" 3rd world countries due to lack of vaccinations. In fact its one of the problems that the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is trying to solve by vaccinationg "kids at risk"

No questions... and many of these vaccines we do know the long term effects of. I have researched this & choose to give my children them, I do not question your decision, I would just not like your child in my childs school (which is how it works here in MIchigan, no vacine= no public school) But I prefer you not to question my right to give my child their vaccines. It is our rights, why be so judgemental??!!
