i would start by calling vw them selves not the dealer and ask them if the will stand behind there warranty with you circumstances and make sure you get the name of the person you talked to also. if they tell you no then as long as you have it in writing from the dealer ship that you have a power train warranty go seek legal advice or the better business bureau and let them be nasty to the dealership for you

Most warranties cover original manufacturer parts and defects only, not wear and tear. If the previous owner did not have the work done at a dealer guaranteeing use of manufacturer parts (not generic) you may be SOL. If work was done at a dealer the history should be in a database. Did you buy it from a dealer? Under 2 weeks they should have properly represented the warranty status. Does your state have lemon laws? You should research them and keep documentation of everything that happens with the dealer and Manuf. in a log. Go after the dealer not the manufacturer. Try returning the car by the end of the month and getting your $$ back. Most lemon laws require you to prove that you exhausted all of the avenues with the dealer before going to court.

A nice ring to the better buisness buruea is always a nice wakeup call to peopel like that...

I'd say give them a jingle and give them the details, they'll let you know if you have a legitimate complaint, and if so file it, as well as tell you what you should do next as far as legal actions if any.

If all else fails,... Reminding the dealership how flamable the lot is at night before you ask them to reconsider honoring their warrenty just might do the trick :)

If the dealer won't budge, you can try a different dealer, or call the district office that is in charge of all dealers in the area. Failing that, you can search for VW's national consumer hotline and see if they can help. Else... see if your local radio or TV station have a consumer action hotline.

to truly answer your question, interior the U.S. a producer would not could honor a guaranty if the product isn't offered from an authorized reseller. the U.S. government would not intervene with such policies. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that countless manufacturers will honor the guaranty in spite of the place you got it. this custom of "authorized sellers" is honest. any provider provider merchandising product they are no longer authorized to could be prevented. many makers restrict the merchandising of their product online, except it relatively is interior of a definite distance of their closest community brick and mortar save. this custom has been in result for over 30 years.
