if yes, why do you think the author(Akutagawa) wrote the story with 7 testimonials with different versions for each??

The point is different people can perceive the exact same event in very different ways. So "the truth" is something that is a little more flexible than what we usually think.

Not very many people think of Akutagawa when they watch a film like"The Usual Suspects" or "Pulp Fiction", but "In a Grove" became the basis for Kurosawa's "Rashomon" which inspired generations of filmmakers.
