Oven Cleaner is your best bet, it will saponify the fats, that is turn them to soap. After the oven cleaner has had time to work you just need to ronse it off and wipe it alittle under the running water. Your other option would be to sprinkle 1/2 - 1 cup Lye (generic powdered drain cleaner) in a sink full of water and soak the basket in that. Which ever way you decide to do this, make absolutely sure that you wear thick rubber gloves to protect your hands, since it will start turning your cell membranes to soap just as quickly as it turns your grease to soap. Trust me, I know from personal experience, when it hits your nerve endings it will be painful, very painful.
