There are various reasons for India's debacle in South Africa, mainly:
1) Most of the players are new and inexperienced in overseas
conditions and struggled to adjust to the fast and bouncy
pitches in South Africa.
2) The experienced players such as Sachin, Shewag and
Dravid were completely out of form and failed to
perform consistently.
3) All the batsmen struggled against short pitched and
rising deliveries and South African bowlers used them
in abundance.
4) Bowlers lacked their line and length and penetration at the
slog overs and failed to capitalise on the initial breakthroughs
5) Fielding was very poor.
6) South African Team was far superior in all departments
such as batting, bowling and bowling.

Team India has become like a PSU. When your next salary is assured, why will you work? In most of the PSUs, people hardly work, yet they get their full salary at the end of the month. Same case in cricket. They are getting enough money to last 4 life times each. So why will they play? Who cares? They are getting rich and the politicians who select them are also getting rich in the bargain. Its all about money and not about the game. Its high time that this game is banned for a period and new faces recruited from the sub junior level, develop them and let them play without political interference.
