In some case's, profiling isn't necessarily bad.
Why would we be searching your grandmother for drugs & bombs instead of the wild eyed guy with the suitcase handcuffed to his arm?

Why? In some areas it's inappropriate, but in other areas it's essential. Things work on the basis of pattern recognition. So we define areas in which it is unacceptable, areas in which it is needed, and areas in which there should be ongoing dialog. Then we get the clods to go along.

By having certain races not commit crimes for which they are being profiled for.
