Buy water softener at the store. Add a little to each load when you add soap. Use the big front loaders. Don't put too much soap in! The front loaders hold more clothes and use less soap. I like to spray "shout action gel" on spots or rub spots with "spray n wash stain stick", this you can do and then throw into laundry basket and wash later. The water softener softens the water and helps get the dirt out and makes my shirts feel soft like when I bought them.

Use the hottest temp water that you can for the clothes you are washing. Use good quality laundry detergent. Do not overload the washers. You may have to use a fabric softener. Stay with your clothes. Don't leave them as some one may take them out for you when the cycle is finished. Dry them one wash load per drier. One of the biggest mistakes people make at Laundromats is putting too many clothes in a drier hoping to save a little money. Then fold them just as soon as they are out of the drier,

When I used to go to the laundry mat I used a dishwasher tablet for the whites, make sure it's the regular tablets and not the ones withe powerballs or duo colored it makes your laundry really white. I still use at home and it works better then bleach

Honestly, smaller loads help alot. The machines are used often. It also doesn't hurt to bring an old cloth and Windex and wipe the insides of the machines down before you begin......
