The H.R. departments in the aviation industry as far as benefits, etc... are not much different then other industries. As far as the hiring process the applicants, for obvious reasons, have to have specific training. Usually the process starts with submitting the application to the airlines, if the airlines decides they want you to interview, they usually jumpseat to where their base is. The interview process takes about two days as you have to go through a basic interview, a psychological interview, you have to take a simulator ride (showing your ability) as well as have an interview in front of other pilots/captains that already work for the company.

Once the airline decides to hire you, the new hire attends groundschool in whatever type aircraft they will be flying. This types the pilot in the airplane that they will be sitting SIC in. The airline will also send out what is known as a PRIA form to all of the companies that they pilot for in the past. This is to verify the flight time for the pilot.

There are alot of other things that happen as well, but that is a basic overview of one part of the HR in an airline. Hope it helps!
