Our daughter is only 17 months old and I think I'm about a month along. It's not exactly a planned pregnancy but we weren't exactly using preventative methods either. He always half-ways joked that we were just going to have our one child and spoil her... (which I always just knew we'd have another one some day)... so it's going to be a shocker for him to find out we're having another one after our daughter was just getting to the age where we had a bit more freedom to do things... not to mention that our sex life was FINALLY starting to get back into, er, the swing of things...

My husband is in the Air Force and is in the States (we are stationed in Japan) for the next week for some training so I've got some time to think of a unique and fun way to tell him the big news. THANKS!

What about buying or making a shirt for your son that says I'm a Big Brother & have him run up & give daddy a hug when Daddy gets home

Buy a couple plain t-shirts (different colors), some for you and some for your daughter. Finger paint on yours 'mom to be'/ 'baby says hi' or any cool phrases that you can think of, and on hers 'big sister'/ 'can't wait to see you baby' etc., and any other fun stuff you can think of. Wear them around the house day after day and see how long it takes him to figure out what is going on. Don't break down and tell him, it could take a week maybe a minute, but it will be fun just walking right in front of his face and him not noticing what's going on. It works best if you don't tell any other person like friends or family until he figures it out. Everyone gets involved and it's a fun story to tell (years from now).

Buy an xmas stocking and some iron letters saying "baby jones (or whatever your last name is)". This is how i told my parents. I would have liked to have done something similar to my hubby but i was so shocked to be pregnant after 4 years of trying i just ran into the bedroom hysterical shaking asking him to check that i had read the stick right - it is funny looking back on it - i might read the other answers and plan the baby 2 suprise a little better.

good luck and congrats

Congratulations!

Like Crystal said, you could do the card for Daddy, and sign it from all 3 of us or something like that.

Or you could, when he gets home, have him go to the store with you and while you're there pick up something for a newborn (a bottle, a pack of onsies, some diapers, whatever) and toss them in the cart. When he wonders, tell him that you'd be needing it soon and you thought you'd go ahead and start stocking up.

Or you could take a test the night before he comes home or in the morning before he gets home and then wrap it in a little box. Tell him you got him a welcome home gift, and watch his face when he opens it and gets confused for a moment!

I can't really think of anything else, but I'm sure whatever you decide will be great! Good luck!

Make a special dinner (china, candles, crystal, the works) of all of your cravings. ( the weirder the better). Put a real champagne label on a bottle of non-alcoholic wine and serve it with dinner. If he hasn't gotten the message by dessert, he should understand when you serve baby food applesauce.

Give him a card that says to daddy from both of us. He will definitely think something by that. Or you could say things like well I don't guess we need to get rid of (any of the baby stuff) like crib. He will think something then for sure. Congrats!

firstly make double sure you are preggies. then when he gets home pack out all your old maternity clothes and ask him which he liked you in best. he will ask you why you are unpacking all your maternity clothes. you just tell him that you don't want to be handling heavy objects when you are further along and you want to sort everything out so you don't have to do that when you are all big and uncomfortable. that will get his attention.

Good luck and congrats

You could ask him...How many children did you say you want to have? If he still says just one, then you can say how about 1+1??

Hope this helps :-)

write it on a little piece of paper and wrap it up. tell him you have an early x-mas present for him. Make it a victorias secret box so he gets excited!
