In that music video and the song it sounded and looked so sad yet peaceful... do you think he knew he was going to die soon?

Yes he did know the end was near. He wasnt in the dark about his failing health, and besides he was a very spiritual man. He made peace with God and was very devoted in his christian beliefs. In an interview with MTV's Kurt Loader he said he knew he would die soon, he could just feel it and he was fine with it. Being that June had died a short time before his passing, I think he wanted it that way and was ready to go.

Probably not as I believe he wrote the song in the late 50's and he died just a few years ago. Did you see the movie "Walk the Line" about his life? He seemed to have the ability to write about death and grim topics due to his close brother dying at an early age.

I am 67 and in my experiences in life, I think most people know when the end is in sight. Both my mother & father said the end was near and they both were correct as they died within months of what they predicted. I, myself think my end is not far away as my body is giving out and I am tired so as far as your question is concerned, yes I think he knew.

I was just watching his video,a few minutes ago,and thinking about believing he must of felt the end was coming. Hes been very "in-tune" spiritually for quite some time.I also think that when his wife died, so did he, inside.

Of course he did.. his world ended when he lost his wife, June Carter. He willed himself to go. He had a strong religous faith and she was the one who brought him to it. He needed to her and to be with her.
