Yes a tubal pregnancy shows up on a pregnancy test. Your HCG levels usually don't rise as fast as a normal pregancy or stop rising. You can get sharp pains and heavy bleeding. I had an ectopic 3 months ago and I didn't have any symptoms that something was wrong, the slow rising HCGs is what told the doctors that something was wrong. If you're suspected of having a tubal once your HCG level hits 2000 and they don't see any sign of pregnancy in your uterus, the normal procedure is they give you a shot of methotrexate that stops the pregnancy and they keep checking your HCG levels until they return below 5 (anything 5 or higher is considered pregnant). A tubal can be very dangerous and if it is not taken care of it can be life threatening. You want to make sure you go to your doctor if you have a tubal.

I am not sure the IUD matters, but I am pretty sure a tubal can show positive on a pregnancy test. That is why if you do find out you are pregnant and then start having pain in one of the lower sides of your stomach (either one), it is important to let a doc know so they can ultrasound to see if you have a tubal pregnancy.

A tubal will not always show up on a HPT. Only some times. My mom had one years ago when i was a baby. She said it was sudden, and breath taking pain. The nurse at our hospital told her to wait until morning to see how she felt, she called her doc and he told her he would meet her at the hospital, she had emergency surgery right then to remove it. If you suspect that you might have a tubal you need to go into emergency right away. I think that having a IUD may increase your odds of having and ectopic pregnancy, as it will try to prevent you from getting pregnant. I hope you don't have a tubal. Good luck

It should, as the pregnancy hormone is still released into your blood stream. Tubal pregnancies are very dangerous - so go see your doctor asap.

A tubal pregnancy will show up inconsistently on pregnancy tests. If you take 10, probably half will show up as positive and half as negative. If you recieve inconsistent pregnancy tests, it is best to go to your doctor immediately!!!! For more information this is a great article: http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/pregcomplications/229.html
Good Luck!
