There are several techniques, to preserve monuments. The important thing is the type of rock and cementing material which was used by the people when constructing them. Based on that we should choose the material to preserve these monuments. Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) takes care of preserving such monuments. What natural or unnatural disaster may strike next nobody knows - therefore it is the prime responsibility of the archaelogical survey of India to have detailed microfilm versions of these sites with complete layout plans and relevant and important technical aspect details and cross-reference literature details stored in appropriate locations - definitely more than one.
