The American Academy of Pediatrics
has classified ibuprofen as approved for use in
breast feeding mothers. Ibuprofen enters
breast milk in very low levels. One study
stated that under normal dosing, the nursing
infant would be exposed to less than 1mg of
ibuprofen per day.

However at this website:http://www.drugs.com/ibuprofen.html it is stated:" It is not known whether ibuprofen passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby."

So I would advise you to talk with your doctor (and pharmacist) before you use Ibuprofen.

My sons pediatrician gave me the green light to breast feed & take 2 Motrin 800 per 4 hours when I had a root canal. If you are concerned always page your childs doctor or call the pharmacy.

ibuprofen is actually better than Tylenol anyway. Tylenol has been shown recently to have a very bad effect on th human liver.
ibuprofen is what they give you after your percoset when you have a c-section.

It's fine , this has been asked many times in my breast feeding support group and the lactation consultant has always said it is fine to take while BF .

I have breastfed two babies and have taken Motrin 800 both times several times and there were no problems. Both my OB and my kids pediatricians approved Motrin while breastfeeding with no problem. Call your sons pediatricians if you have any more questions though . . . that can always help you feel better :)
