THEY HAVE TO KICK OFF BUT INSTEAD OF A NORMAL KICKOFF THEY HAVE TO PUNT THE BALL

ACK uneducated football fans make me MAD!!!! The team that sacks the Quarterback gets rewarded the ball ....... the term for the ensuing kick is called a FREE KICK...the kicking team (that which was sacked) has the OPTION to punt or kick off a tee...they do not HAVE To punt. Most teams do punt because the kick comes from the 20 instead of the 35 yard line and therefore punting offers a better coverage situation but, if a kicker has an outstanding leg teams will kick off the tee in order to get the ball deeper down the feel and hope the gunners (faster kick coverage players) get to the ball handler inside the 30 yard line.
In summary.......they receive the ball via a free kick which can be a punt or off the tee kick

They have to kick off the ball to the team who sacked them in the end zone, but actually they punt the ball in a kick off formation.

They have to kick-off, a free kick, to can punt or tee it up. They will normally choose to punt since they achieve better hang time, resulting in better coverage

the team that got the safety than gets the ball back, but soon as they get it they have to punt it back off, idk something to do with george bush..
