I have been to see several psychologists over the years for varying reasons and I have not met one that did not help in some capacity and did not meet one that did any harm.
I have found that if you decide before going to see the psychologist exactly what it is you want to deal with and you talk openly with the psychologist about the issue at hand and also plan to attend for a set period of appointments then you will get the most out of your sessions with them.
always feel free to ring around to several psychologists and ask them for an initial appointment to discover if you are a good match. Not every psychologist will suit every client and clients can certainly decide to choose another psychologist.
Here in Australia federal laws were altered recently so that if you are referrred to a psychologist by a GP you can get up to 12 appointments in a year that are bulk billed.
If a psychologist takes any calls at all during your session simply tell them that you find it unacceptable and if they do not cease to do so get up and leave!!! Find yourself a psychologist who will LISTEN.!!

I had one and we had an hour long session. She would go out every 5 minutes to "take care of business". After 3 or 4 times of that she left for 30 minutes..Then when she came back in we talked for 5 minutes and then she said well our time is up..I remember thinking "when did it start"..no ethics whatsoever.

read your back issues in to the seventies of the Carnegie quarterlies of conspiracies and recommendations, c where we were and where they are and where u are the acute angle is very convincing if u can take the cold left overs of eating crow, they have evidence to support anything and away they went so if u want to know it will be too late anyway, but knowing is some satisfaction, and the song says can't get no satisfaction, but u can look it all up in the quarterlies of long ago and know they lied

The worst one I've had was a lady who would sit with me for half an hour and instead of helping me talk on her cell phone.

I went to see someone to deal with personal loss and she decided that I'm not sad, I'm mad! So she called social services to save my daughter from angry me, while saying that she could tell that my daughter was the love of my life and a joy to me. I'm still very sad but will never seek help again.
