You need to be a lot more specific. It can be toxic or non-toxic. It can be associated with hyperthyroid, hypothyroid, or neither.

Only in the third world is it associated with a lack of iodine!

Hypothyroid is the name of this disease. In the old days they called it a goiter because it frequently causes the neck to swell.

Iodine is not the problem, please believe me.

It is characterized by an underactive thyroid. I have had it for over 30 years.

Sometimes the cause is a tumor on the thyroid; sometimes there are other causes.

Whatever the cause you need to get to the doctor and take thyroid medication. Hypothyrois can mess up almost every function of the body including the sexual organs (especially in women)
