You follow a two-step cleaning process.
First, scrub the area using a 3-m green pad and a good degreaser. This will remove a majority of the dirt and will also get rid of water-repelling oils. Rinse the whole mess down the drain.

Next, make a mix of bleach and water. Dilute the bleach to about 1/4 Cup bleach to 1 quart of water. Put the bleach mix in a spray bottle. Flip on the bathroom fan, open the doors etc, then spray the tub and tiles to the point of runoff with the bleach mix. Let the mix work for about 15 minutes. Do not remain in the bathroom because the chlorene fumes can be irritating!

Anyway, this works really well and its cheap. You might also wear cleaning cloths while you are doing this. If bleach gets on something nice, it will be ruined.

never use bleach on tile, it is way too abrasive for the finish, it will seriously reduce the life of your tile. Vinegar and warm water is the best thing to clean your tile with. If you have rust stains or mineral deposits, you can use CLR or Lime Away. But keep this to a minimun as that is also very abrasive. I am a professional tile mechanic, I know my trade.

Steam.. It will get rid of anything from hard water to ring around the tub and nothing gets the tiles clean like it. My fiance works for a carpet company and they use pressure steam in cleaning carpets and that's what we use but I believe you can get a steam clean at like Home Depot or something.

Mean Green from Family Dollar. I doubted it until I tried it - cleans DORM bathroom mold, it will certainly whiten your tiles!

Bleach or any cleaning solution with bleach. Tilex mold and mildew is good. Not the tilex soap scum remover.

no, not bleach. You need to cut the scum, but some tiles and bath tubs lose their whiteness with age, in that case just clean it well and paint.

after trying so many products out there I find that bleach whitens it very well. just make sure you ventilate the bathroom because if you breathe too much of it it will make you feel dizzy.
