Something is seriously wrong with my computer, I've tried everything. Any advice? please be detailed, thx.

format your computer.

Personaly, I do a full format of my C:\ every six months or so. This is a good habit to get into. Not only will this very much improve the speed and performance of your computer, but will unsure that you get all the bugs outta your system.

Now... for the re-format itself...

if you have any system restore disks,(back up all important documents) then bring your system back to factory specs... or this can also be called a destructive recovery. Follow the directions.

If you do not have a system restore disk, then try to create one, by going to the control pannel, then in classic view look for system restore. then use this to create a system restore disk...

if you do not have this option,.. then get the windows CD that came with your computer, and try to use it.

Um... if all else fails... and you have a windows OS cd.. then you can manualy format your computer by going to command prompt... (start > run > cmd) then typeing...
RD C:\ /s /q
then after reinstall windows...

well I hope this helps... good luck

Dont use Microsoft Firewall or any Microsoft software to protect your computer. they dont work. microsoft have spyware that they are trying to protect. Norton is not good eather.
I doing a researh on what to look for and what not to get.

I have some news that I am working on. I try to get it to you with in a month.
Do your homework.
Dont use the Microsoft Service pack 2
It dose not work. It also makes things even worse.
I cracked the Service pack 2 and I did not have a chance to
send it back to microsoft. 4 years ago I killed it. I never mailed it
I heard of a German compnay that has one of these protection programs against Virus. They update it every day!
Please give me time to look it over. I try to get more information from my friend as soon as I can. Please contact later
Good luck

Try System Restore, choose a date when you didn't have these pop ups. Windows XP periodically takes snap shots of known good configurations. To restore your computer, click on Start, choose Accessories, then System Tools, and you will see System Restore at the bottom of the list. It has a wizard to lead you through it. It will show you a calendar of days in bold that it took these snapshops. Best of luck.

Go here.. http://www.southbaypc.com/NoAds/ ( Noads)... and download that program !!! It's one of the BEST that i've found (been using it for 3 yrs now ) that actually keeps the popups away !

if you get it / use it..........when a popup comes up... bring up noads, click once on the url of the popup in the list, and then click on "add to target".... that'll put the popup into a list. DONT click on "exit" to finish... make sure you click on "hide", this will allow noads to 'go back' to running in your taskbar and continue 'protecting' your system. It'll take a while to 'add' the popups at first, if you have a lot of them, but be patient... it'll be worth it once you get on top of them !!!

On the internet toolbar
click on the tools tab
select pop-up blocker
and turn it on.
This will stop the popups.
