I heard a guy on the radio today say swinging is not just about sex. Is this true? And if not explain a little to me what the swinger life is about.

but how does it work? do you just come home and say "hey honey I met someone really hot today and we are going to have sex"? and do you go out with other couples or can you go out with each other? and what if your partner didn't want to be a swinger anymore? would you stop?

Swinging or an "open relationship" is when you and/or your partner have sex with other people. Usually it's just about sex. This can be a partner-swap, 3-some (2 guys and 1 girl or 2 girls and one guy), 4-some (2 couples) or orgies (more than 4). Ideally, the same rules apply for both partners in the couple (ex. NOT just when a guy wants 2 girls but won't let another guy near his woman). It should be fair for both. If you want to explore this lifestyle make sure you do the following things....
1. TRUST that your partner won't leave you for the new person.
2. TALK about what you both want out of the experience.
3. DON'T do anything that both of you don't agree on.
4. DON'T do anything you don't want to do or "take one for the team."
5. PROTECT yourself from STD's and pregnancy.
It can be a way for you and your partner to explore fantasies and is really a lot of fun if done very carefully.

***If it was something that you would want to try, you would approach your partner just like if you wanted to try anal sex or some other fantasy. "Honey, I was thinking we might like to try swinging, what do you think? " Maybe not the best idea to approach that idea with a specific someone that you have in mind. If you want to stop, you stop. In a perfect situation, you are completely open about it at all times. See the rules above.
As for your other question, my husband and I love each other dearly, we are best friends and we want to spend the rest of our lives together. That's why we got married. Swinging has not changed that at all. Playing with others is just adding some excitment right now. We stopped for about a year when it wasn't comfortable for us. Just think, you can't cheat or be cheated on if it's allowed.

Having multiple sex partner means swinging. It not only about sex, its also about adventure and variety. Swingers tend to get bored easily and hence look for new partners.
